Washington, D.C. — Amy Tenney Curren has been chosen as the new director of the National Attorneys General Training and Research Institute (NAGTRI), a branch of the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG). Curren most recently served as assistant dean for Academic Services and Registrar and a member of the adjunct faculty at the American University Washington College of Law. Her responsibilities included helping to set and refine the law school’s curriculum.

NAGTRI’s mission is to provide high-quality, non-partisan, and innovative training, research and other developmental resources to support state and territory AG offices. It was established in 2008, and Curren will be its second director. She begins April 30.

“We are very excited to have Amy join NAAG and feel fortunate to have recruited someone with her many talents and capabilities,” said NAAG Executive Director Chris Toth who served as NAGTRI’s first director and NAAG deputy executive director before being promoted in December 2017. “We are quite confident Amy will take NAGTRI to the next level.”

The NAGTRI vision is to be recognized as the premiere national organization for training and research throughout the government legal, law enforcement, and prosecutorial arenas. Last year the Institute held 115 trainings.

Curren previously was a partner in the Washington, D.C. office of Jenner & Block LLP, where she was a member of the Government Contracts and White Collar Defense & Investigations practice groups.

Curren clerked in both the U.S. District Court for Eastern Virginia and the U.S. Court of Appeals, First Circuit. She graduated magna cum laude from New York Law School and with high honors from the University of Maryland.
