Washington, D.C. — The National Attorneys General Training and Research Institute (NAGTRI), a branch of the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG), is hosting its annual International Fellows Program from June 7-16. The program provides international government attorneys the opportunity to discuss common issues, establish professional networks, and learn new tools and techniques. 2019 is the ninth year of the program. This year’s focus is on “Prosecutorial Strategies to Fight Cybercrime in the Era of Social Media.”
The program is managed by NAGTRI’s Center for International Partnerships and Strategic Collaboration (CIPS-C), which was established earlier this year with the goal of growing NAAG’s and NAGTRI’s international presence on behalf of the attorney general community.
The Fellows will hear from experts about investigative and prosecutorial techniques to fight cybercrime. The first half of the program will take place in Washington, D.C., followed by a few days in New York, N.Y. As part of the agenda, the fellows are scheduled to meet with experts across the public, private, and nonprofit sectors, including policy leaders from the U.S. Department of Justice, U.S. Senate and Federal Trade Commission.
“Personal relationships often bridge the gulf of cultural and national differences and create cooperation in place of misunderstanding,” said NAAG Executive Director Chris Toth. “As the global community becomes ever closer, the personal relationships formed during this program will be an important tool in furthering cooperative efforts to protect the public from predatory patterns and practices online.”
